Education is so very valuable. Whether it is received through the rigors of daily life and hard work or through the student/teacher classroom experience, it is what shapes us as people looking to reach God’s purpose in life. You have heard it a thousand times, yet even at 1001, it is still true: One never stops learning. Education begins at day 1 and continues until our last breath. If not, we run the risk of becoming stuck in our day to day routine. How boring that would be.
I leave you with the following advice:
- Seize the day: Reminiscing is good. Dwelling in the past, however, is suggesting to God that God can do nothing new with your life. Celebrate where you have been and learn from your life’s adventure up until now, but move on to what is to come with confidence and humility.
- Know that committing to a life of study is vital: Sounds boring right? Wrong! No matter what your passion is, you must know that your preparation for the future begins in the binding of a book or with the click of a mouse. You have been doing this in school already. Know that it should never end. How pointless would life be if you stopped learning new things at 18 years old?
- Know that committing to a life of study only is dangerous: Make sure you find time for leisure. Hang out with friends. Enjoy nice weather. Play a sport. Experience the arts. Do all these things so that you never only experience life in a book. God teaches us in well rounded ways.
- Value friends and family: Those people in your life who love you are your lifeline in the choppy seas. Never forget they are there and seek out companionship in any corner.
- And finally…God is always with you. Seek God first in all that you do. God will never fail you.
I leave you with this quote from legendary preacher John Claypool: “We do not first get all the answers and then live in the light of our understanding. We must rather plunge into life meeting what we have to meet and experiencing what we have to experience and in the light of living try to understand. If insight comes at all, it will not before, but only through and after experience.”
God bless you Seniors of 2008!
Awesomeness Abounding!
