celebrateWelcome back from spring break. I hope it was restful for you, no matter what you did. Did you go somewhere? Did you go somewhere fun in your head?

We are in the home stretch, as summer is just around the corner. It may not feel like it, but in another few weeks, school is over for the year! For me, a graduate, this means a scary new beginning in life, as I once again move from full-time student to full-time worker.

I’ve done this before. When I graduated from high school, I took on a new beginning. When I graduated college … new beginning. And here I am again, graduating from seminary, embarking on a new beginning. The senior class is experiencing the same thing. 8th graders are experiencing the same thing, as they begin their journey to high school. All of you will experience this at some point in your life. It is exciting and nerve racking all at the same time.

I want to encourage you, no matter what your new beginning entails, to attack it with the courage and knowledge that God is laying this in your path. Your journey has God journeying with you. I am reminded of Psalm 23, because when I read the Psalmists words, I see myself asking God for help along the way. I cannot lie; it is a source of comfort.

A Psalm of David

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me besides still waters, he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his names sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me, in the presence of my enemies, you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord, my whole life long.

Know that the Lord is always with you and celebrate new beginnings.

Awesomeness Abounding!
